Lawyer with more than 30 years of experience in both defence and prosecution, Ms. Briand has earned a reputation for her skill and dedication at finding legal solutions tailored to her clients' needs. She makes a point of staying abreast of recent developments in the legal field; as a result, her approach to client cases is unfailingly thorough and professional.

Recently, she became the first independent lawyer in Quebec to be accredited by the Équijustice organization to practice mediation in the criminal context. She is a member of the Institut de médiation et d'arbitrage du Québec (IMAQ).

From 2011 to 2015, Mr. Briand supervised the team of prosecutors at the Bureau de lutte à la corruption et à la malversation, which at that time had many successes in conducting large and complex cases.

A teacher at the École du Barreau since 2006 and a facilitator at the Séminaire des techniques de plaidoiries du Barreau du Québec since 2017, she has a keen interest in criminal law, ethics and mediation.

In January 2022, she added another string to her bow and became a Real estate investor and manager for the family business Bribourg. True to form, she invested herself in this new field by following several training courses and became a member of the Corporation des propriétaires immobiliers du Québec (CORPIQ) as well as the Club d'investisseurs immobiliers du Québec.

Mediation in a criminal context

Isabelle Briand holds a graduate diploma in dispute prevention and resolution. She offers coaching and training in criminal mediation and restorative justice.
 

Legal and strategic consulting services

Ms. Briand has argued cases at all levels of Québec's criminal and penal justice system. She has worked on large, complex, next-generation cases, and was also a prosecutor for the Chamberland commission (journalistic sources).
 

Real estate management

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Briand manages the real estate and investments for the Bribourg family business.

Ms. Briand is adept at managing large, complex volumes of evidence in intricate financial cases.
 

Management and leadership

Ms. Briand has led and participated in work done by various committees of the Directeur des poursuites criminelles et pénales in relation to ethics, governance, and major case management. She is currently a member of the professional development committee of the Barreau du Québec.
 

Organizational restructuring

Ms. Briand was involved in the creation of the Bureau de lutte à la corruption et à la malversation (BLCM), and subsequently chaired the BLCM executive committee comprised of a dedicated team of individuals experienced at fighting corruption.
